Electrical Apprenticeship Instructor
The Columbia Basin Electrical Training Alliance is now taking applications for the position of Electrical Apprenticeship Instructor.
We are experiencing substantial growth in the electrical industry, and we will be adding a sixth full-time instructor to the Training Center staff to meet the challenges of administering related and supplemental (RSI) training to continue turning out the best trained electricians for tomorrow’s workforce.
This Electrical Apprenticeship Instructor will be under the supervision of the Training Director and will work directly with the other instructors to deliver the required 1st year – 5th year curriculum of the apprenticeship program.
This is a salaried position and includes Local 112’s benefit package – the Health & Welfare Plan, NEBF Pension and the LU 112/73 Retirement Plan. Candidates must also be willing to work some Saturdays and evenings. Some travel will be required, as needed for training and certification courses as determined by the JATC. The selection process will consist of an evaluation and interview conducted by the JATC Instructor Sub-Committee. While there is no set hiring date at this moment, applications are being accepted and will be promptly reviewed.
Job Description:
The instructor’s primary objective is to be able to prepare and administer Related Supplemental Instruction (RSI) to all five years of the Apprenticeship Program, with curriculum that includes: Conduit Bending and Fabrication, AC / DC Theory, Blueprints, Codeology, Rigging, Motor Control, Fire Alarm, Instrumentation, Electrical Safety Related Work Practices, and OSHA among many others. The instructors shall provide and give a report on the status of apprentices at monthly JATC Committee Meetings and are responsible for implementing new policies and procedures as the Committee decrees. Additionally, instructors are responsible for teaching Journeyman CEU courses throughout the year.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Washington Journeyman Electrician (01) License
- Technologically efficient with respect to computers and internet use
- Good organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to work as a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current Oregon General Journeyman License
- 5 Years journey-level work experience in the electrical industry with IBEW-NECA
- Teaching Experience
- Proficient computer and software experience including: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint), Online Courses, Website administration and data entry
